Summary

SMS Operator/Watch Stander

VTG is currently seeking a SMS Operator/Watch Stander for our client location located at the Washington Navy Yard. The primary mission of the SMS system is to integrate multiple detection information sources with Regional Dispatch Center, Regional Operations Center (ROC), and installation Emergency Operations Center (EOC) watch standers to form a Common Operating Picture. The mission is accomplished by integrating data inputs and displaying the Common Operating Picture in the ROC and/or EOC via the Virtual Perimeter Monitoring System.

What will you do?

  • Conduct real time video surveillance of Naval District Washington (NDW) facilities. Monitor, configure and operate SMS alarms via assigned work station. The SMS Operator/Watch Stander work stations are located in the Shore Operations Center (SHOC) at the Washington Navy Yard. The SMS is controlled from the SHOC and is designed to be operated on a 24 hours per day/7 days per week basis.
  • Monitor, configure and operate SMS cameras via assigned work station.
  • Maintain Common Operating Picture/perimeter situational awareness and respond to ad hoc requests for surveillance of specific areas/activities.
  • Record and retrieve live video/images, track and report system readiness.
  • Maintain constant surveillance for twelve hour periods
  • Initiate security response or an alternate security response to detected intrusions/interact with installation security personnel as required.
  • Conduct periodic proficiency training

Do you have what it takes?

  • Education: High School Education or equivalent. Specialty Training courses applicable to the functional area.
  • Knowledge of business software web-based applications. Incumbent must possess a working knowledge of common reporting, presentation, data-collection, program tracking and budgetary tools, particularly Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and have the ability to learn Navy-specific data management systems for the purpose of retrieving and analyzing data.
  • Excellent communications skills. Ability to compose, critique and edit technical and advisory documents and presentations in multiple formats.
  • Incumbent must possess a solid analytical ability, mature judgment and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to multi-task, use personal judgment and utilize strong decision making skills.
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the Command and internal/external agencies or components in a professional manner
  • Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and/or have a Secret Security Clearance.

Pay Range: VTG's estimated starting pay is $55,000-$65,000 which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
