The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Patient Transporter Dispatcher dispatches the transporters to move patients within the hospital network in wheelchairs or stretchers from time of admission until discharge. They will transport patients as necessary.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Hospital Patient Transport experience

Preferred:

  • Prior Dispatch experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift: Day
  • Time: 7:00am-7:00pm
  • Rotating weekends and holidays
  • Status: Part Time

Essential Functions:

  • Recognizes and prioritizes patient tests and distributes to transporter in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates patient tests in scheduled areas and informs departments of any changes.
  • Coordinate transporters' breaks and follow the proper chain of command when disciplinary action is needed by staff.
  • Assist nursing personnel in moving patients into a chair or onto a stretcher following standard procedures.
  • Follows appropriate patient identification procedures to assure transport of proper patient
  • Answers patients' questions during transport in a courteous manner. Remains alert to patients' condition during transport and immediately informs appropriate authorities of any unusual incidents or patient concerns
  • Notifies responsible personnel of patients' arrival and delivers a medical chart to the appropriate area within the receiving unit.
  • Cleans and sanitizes transport equipment utilizing appropriate disinfecting materials after each patient's use. Disposes of all soiled linen used during transport in the proper laundry facilities located in the patients' room
  • Reports and identifies any suspected transport equipment malfunction for needed repairs to supervisor to ensure patient safety.
  • Returns transport equipment to the proper area to ensure fire and safety regulations
  • Responds to various requests for wheelchairs and stretchers by locating equipment and delivering it to the requesting unit.
  • Responsible for monitoring of 02 Flow Meters to ensure adequate 02 flow during patient transport
  • Attends all classes and in-service required by department policies.
  • Follows all break and lunch schedules and returns in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify what the patient's educational needs are
  • Demonstrates and performs lateral lifting in a safe manner
