Summary

Dispatcher

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to oversee daily transportation operations and support a team of approximately 35 drivers. This position will be responsible for coordinating schedules, dispatching drivers, monitoring active loads, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all transportation activities are completed safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create daily driver and load schedules.
  • Dispatch drivers to appropriate locations and provide routing and trip information.
  • Enter and maintain load information in TMW.
  • Track and monitor drivers through PeopleNet.
  • Utilize PC*Miler for routing and trip planning.
  • Monitor active loads and address schedule changes, delays, and operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate delay codes and dispatch records.
  • Assist drivers with required paperwork and documentation.
  • Maintain current and accurate permit books.
  • Create and update Excel spreadsheets and operational reports.
  • Communicate professionally with drivers, customers, vendors, maintenance, and management.
  • Respond promptly to driver-assistance and operational requests.
  • Monitor driver utilization and help ensure load commitments are fulfilled.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance shop regarding equipment readiness and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch and compliance records.
  • Develop strong, respectful working relationships with drivers.
  • Support driver engagement and retention.
  • Assist with broader terminal-management responsibilities as the individual develops.
  • Respond to occasional evening and weekend operational calls.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of dispatching experience required
  • Commercial transportation or trucking experience required.
  • Experience with line-haul, local trucking, specialized freight, HAZMAT, oil and gas, heavy haul, or another regulated transportation environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT and 49 CFR regulations required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Professional, mature, and well-spoken communication style.
  • Calm and composed under pressure.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Dependable, accountable, and proactive.
  • Technically savvy and comfortable learning new systems.
  • Strong employment stability.
  • Safety-focused with the ability to make thoughtful decisions without rushing.
  • Comfortable working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Interested in growing into an Assistant Terminal Manager position.
  • No specific educational requirement.

  • Fully onsite in Carlsbad, NM.
  • Reports to the Project/Terminal Manager.
  • TMW experience is not required; training will be provided.
