Doing so requires extensive homework and independent study and guidance and advice from experienced trainers and colleagues.Upon successful completion of the classroom portion of the training, a phone room training program begins. Upon successful completion of the phone room training, a radio training program begins.Learn basic knowledge, fundamentals, and procedures of law enforcement dispatching.Under supervision, completes on-the-job training, which involves actual workplace conditions that ensure the linkages between classroom knowledge and job performance skills.Must develop an experience base that complements the formal classroom training.Upon completing the identified tasks and proper record documentation, the dispatcher must progress to a level where constant supervision is no longer required.Performs the next level's duties but is in an evaluation status that determines if job performance is satisfactory and meets the requirements necessary to be promoted.Preference may be given to applicants exhibiting highly desired attributes such good communication and people skills; attention to detail; good memory retention; familiarity with computers; and strong typing ability.
