Job Description

Overview

Responsible for the dispatching of Public Safety and other Aviation Department Employees for routine and emergency calls for service. Actively monitors the automated access control, fire alarm, and closed-circuit television systems. Takes appropriate action under the Airport Security Program (ASP). Routes requests from passengers and other individuals who do business with the Airport to the appropriate section within the department. Assists with the credentialing and badging of employees and tenants who work at the Airport. Under the ASP responds to alarms at secured area access control points. Resolves alarms and takes appropriate action including documenting incidents and summoning law enforcement. Monitors the Terminal curbside traffic flow through Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and on foot. Directs passengers and vehicles to maintain traffic flow. Integral partner in the safety and security of the Airport. And all other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for directing the appropriate unit(s) to answer all emergency calls that originate at the Airport, or are transferred from the 911 system

• Monitors the 800 MHz radio and aircraft emergency ring down systems, records all the information generated by a call for service in a computer database for official documentation, and relays information to mutual aid agencies such as the Corpus Christi Police and Fire Departments

• Serves as the switchboard operator for all phone calls received by the Airport when required

• Required to maintain State of Texas Certification as a Telecommunicator

• Safeguard's private and personal information generated by law enforcement and Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration activities

• Actively monitors the AACS in order to maintain restricted access into the secured areas of the airport as required in the Airport Security Program (ASP)

• Dispatches the appropriate Public Safety Unit(s) to trouble and door alarms that are caused by improper use of the system including incidents where doors or gates are opened without a proper card or use of an outdated card, and suspected unlawful activity

• Responsible for monitoring all doors and access points to the airfield and restricted areas

• Deletes and/or suspends access in the AACS as a result of potential security breaches and when directed by the Airport Security Coordinator

• Required to actively monitor multiple screens including a video wall covering more than 100+ cameras that are deployed throughout the interior and exterior of the Terminal, other buildings and the perimeter of the Airport property

• Through the use of the CCTV System, provides responding officers with accurate information that is essential for life safety of victims and responding officers

• Utilizes the CCTV System to aid in the investigation of security breaches and unlawful activity

• Responds to access control alarms as well as security violations under the ASP

• Takes appropriate actions including documentation of the incident for review by the Public Safety Chief and TSA

• Works with Airport Public Safety Officers to manage passenger traffic flow curbside of the Terminal by enforcing City of Corpus Christi ordinances for active loading zones

• May issue parking citations for violations once trained

• Required to handle security sensitive information as mandated in TSA regulations and other duties as assigned

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

  • Non Exempt - Full-Time
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
  • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED

• Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience

Licenses and Certifications

• Texas Commission on Law Enforcement-Basic Level Telecommunicator Licenses (Within 12 months of hire)

• Texas Department of Public Safety-TCIC/ NCIC (Within 6 months hire)

• American Heart Association-CPR/ Basic First Aid (Within 6 months hire)

• Basic First Aid (Within 6 months of hire)

• NIMS 100, 200 (Within 12 months of hire)

Required

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
