Transit Police Officer

Summary

Utah Transit Authority seeks Transit Police Officers III or IV to protect passengers, employees, and assets across rail, bus, and facilities. In this safety-focused, customer-oriented role, you will patrol transit systems, respond to incidents, enforce laws and ordinances, and support special events. Investigate crimes, issue citations, complete detailed reports, and testify in court as required. Collaborate closely with operations teams and local agencies to maintain a secure, welcoming environment while modeling integrity, professionalism, and community-focused service for riders along the Wasatch Front.

Responsibilities

• Patrol buses, trains, stations, and facilities to deter and detect crime
• Respond to service calls, emergencies, and security incidents on UTA property
• Enforce local, state, and federal laws, as well as UTA rules and ordinances
• Conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, and interview witnesses
• Issue warnings and citations and make arrests when appropriate
• Prepare accurate incident, arrest, and investigative reports
• Testify in court and hearings as required
• Support crowd control and security for special events and peak service times
• Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies
• Engage riders and community members to promote safety and UTA policies
