A security officer is responsible for protecting people, property, and
assets by monitoring, patrolling, and enforcing security measures to
prevent crime and ensure a safe environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Security officers perform a wide range Of tasks to maintain safety and security,
including:
Patrolling and Monitoring: Conduct regular patrols Of buildings, facilities, parking
lots, and surrounding areas to deter criminal activity and ensure safety
Access Control: Verify employee, visitor, and contractor identification, control
entry points, and prevent unauthorized access
Surveillance: Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and other security
equipment to detect suspicious behavior or emergencies
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to alarms, medical emergencies, fires,
or other incidents, coordinating with police, fire departments, or emergency
medical personnel
Incident Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on incidents, accidents, or
irregularities observed during shifts
Security Inspections: Conduct regular inspections Of buildings, equipment, and
restricted areas to identify potential hazards or security risks
Deterrence and Enforcement: Provide a visible security presence, enforce
company policies, and, when necessary, detain or remove violators
Additional Duties: May include bag inspections, escorting personnel, monitoring
environmental systems, or handling after-hours.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Observation and Vigilance: Ability to detect unusual or suspicious activity
quickly
Communication Skills: Clear reporting and interaction with staff, visitors, and law
enforcement
Physical Fitne: Capability to patrol, respond to emergencies, and handle
