Here at CGS, we offer an environment in which our employees feel supported, and we encourage professional growth through various learning opportunities.Skills and attributes for successReceive, review, and analyze new and backlogged Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requestsIntake incoming requests and prepare FOIA request foldersEnter request data in the FOIA tracking databaseDraft response letters and other FOIA correspondenceCommunicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors (or regulated industry representatives), and contractors pertaining to records requested and associated information to be releasedServe as a liaison with requesters, and on rare occasions, other agencies and appellants, regarding records that may involve more than one (1) agency component/officeCoordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicate recordsReview program records for responsiveness and offer release determinationsEnsure released materials do not contain information exempted under the applicable exemptionsQualificationsThree (3) years of experience processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requestsDemonstrated experience and knowledge of FOIA rules and regulations; specifically applying exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6)Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential commercial informationAbility to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishAbility to work independentlyExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to obtain a government security clearanceIdeally, you will also havePrior federal government experience is valuedExperience with FOIA tools like FOIA EXPRESSExperience using SecureReleaseActive security clearance preferredOur CommitmentContact Government Services (CGS) strives to simplify and enhance government bureaucracy through the optimization of human, technical, and financial resources.
