The Vermilion County 911 Communications Center handles 911 and non emergency calls for all of Vermilion County, provides dispatching service to 40 agencies including police, fire and emergency medical. As the the initial contact for most emergency situations, the 911 Telecommunicator serves as a vital public safety and emergency response link in the community.- must be 18 years of age- must be HS graduate or equivalent- must hold a valid drivers license- complete and pass pre employment screening- complete and pass security background screening- complete and pass physical exam- become LEADS, NIMS and NCIC certified within 6 months- type 40 wpm- excellent verbal and written skills- detail and logic oriented- above average retention level- ability to multi task by communicating simultaneously over the phone and radio while typing inputting information into computer system, and observing multiple monitors in the process of taking and dispatching a 911 call, often during highly stressful situations.BenefitsHealth Insurance, Dental and Vision Ins available, AFLAC, Deferred Compensation, Flex Spending, IMRF Pension, Shift Differential, Holiday Pay
