Summary

Position DescriptionThe SJSU King Library is seeking a full‑time, tenure‑track Business Librarian to begin in October 2026 or earlier. The role supports faculty and students in Lucas College and Graduate School of Business through instruction, reference services, and collection development, while engaging in governance and scholarship required for tenure.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with business faculty to facilitate the effective use of curriculum‑specific information resources.Provide reference, consultative, and instructional services to undergraduates, graduate students, teachers, and researchers in synchronous and asynchronous formats.Select and evaluate information resources that support curricular and research needs of business programs.Maintain awareness of current and emerging research, scholarly communication trends, and AI technology in business.Create, implement, and assess user‑centered library services and programs for assigned departments.Build a record of scholarly and professional achievement for tenure and promotion.Participate in shared governance at department, college, and university levels.Demonstrate awareness and experience addressing the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive practices.Required QualificationsMaster's degree accredited by the American Library Association or an equivalent international degree.Experience or coursework in information literacy instruction and reference services.Evidence of potential to maintain an ongoing agenda in scholarly research and professional development at an appropriate level.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Awareness of the educational goals of socially and economically diverse student populations.Preferred QualificationsUndergraduate or graduate degree or equivalent training in a business‑related field.Experience designing, implementing, and assessing library programs and services.Academic library experience.Other DutiesEmployees are mandated reporters under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083. Faculty may be designated as Campus Security Authority and required to complete Clery Act training and report incidents. Employees must complete all CSU employee training relevant to their role (e.g., Data Security, FERPA, TitleIX).
