Working closely with and under the direction of the Title IX Coordinator, this position will spend the vast majority of its time leading sensitive investigations, interviewing parties and witnesses, evaluating evidence, preparing detailed reports, and serving as a decision-maker when appropriate.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in higher education, student affairs, student conduct, or Title IX , excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work thoughtfully and impartially with highly sensitive and confidential matters.What you will be doing in this position Investigations The Deputy Title IX Coordinator serves as a lead investigator for reports of alleged sexual harassment, sexual assault, and other acts of sexual violence involving BYU students and/or employees. The position receives complaints, conducts prompt, fair, equitable, and impartial investigations, applies relevant university policies, and fosters a supportive and respectful environment for all parties involved.The Deputy Title IX Coordinator may also serve as a decision-maker for Title IX investigations, determine whether university policies have been violated, determine appropriate sanctions when violations have occurred, and participate in hearing panels and appeals as required.Alternative Resolutions The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will facilitate alternative resolutions in appropriate Title IX matters and serve as an impartial facilitator throughout the process. Alternative resolution approaches may include mediation, shuttle negotiation, restorative practices, facilitated dialogue, educational conversations, and other appropriate resolution methods.The Deputy Title IX Coordinator has the authority to determine whether alternative resolution is available or successful, to facilitate a resolution that is acceptable to all Parties, and/or to accept the Parties' proposed resolution, often including terms of confidentiality, release, and non-disparagement.Training and Prevention The position will assist with ongoing prevention and awareness campaigns focused on risk reduction, positive bystander intervention, and awareness of sexual violence. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will also manage a calendar of education and prevention events, marketing campaigns, and related initiatives.Receive Training and Education on Title IX Issues The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will remain current on Title IX issues, regulations, trends, and best practices through ongoing professional development. This includes participating in webinars, workshops, conference calls, broadcasts, regional and national conferences, and other training opportunities.The Deputy Title IX Coordinator also serves on campus committees as assigned by the Title IX Coordinator.Major Accountabilities Investigations Receive Title IX reports and complaints.Determine whether a complaint may constitute a Title IX violation and whether BYU has jurisdiction over the complaint.Develop an individualized investigation plan for each complaint.Manage the day-to-day responsibilities associated with Title IX investigations.Contact involved parties and provide information regarding the university's investigative process.Interview complainants, respondents, and potential witnesses.Gather and secure evidentiary materials.Maintain accurate, thorough, and detailed records and notes throughout the investigative process.Act as a neutral and impartial party throughout all aspects of an investigation.Provide supportive measures, resource referrals, and reasonable accommodations to eligible complainants and other parties as needed.Request interim measures in situations that are extreme or dangerous.Ensure investigations a#J-18808-Ljbffr
