Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
• High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent
• A valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years working experience in corrections or another criminal justice field
• Louisiana POST Certification

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office.
• Maintain professional conduct at all times.
• Maintain internal and external security of a correctional institution.
• Observe and participate in supervision, control, and custody of inmates through both visual and auditory surveillance
• Conduct inspections of all housing and general use areas to ensure that proper standards, facility operating procedures
• Report all unusual occurrences, accidents, or safety hazards to supervisors
• Books in and releases inmates.
• Answers, transfers and responds to phone calls.
• Escort/Transport inmates to and from various activities and appointments
• Strictly adhere to policies safeguarding confidentiality
• Perform related work as required, including assistance with food service, security, and maintenance duties
• Prepares reports on activities

Benefits

• The minimum hourly rate of pay for this position is $12.40/hr
• Postsecondary education and Law enforcement or Corrections experience will be taken under consideration in respect to the hourly rate of pay.
• Eligible for paid overtime
• Employer paid Health, Vision, Dental and Life insurance for full time employees
• Vacation and Sick time after 1 year of continuous employment
• Eligible for additional leave when scheduled on an office holiday
