Most of our work is in specialty therapeutics, with oncology and rare diseases a specific area of expertise.Blue Matter Insights (BMI) is our specialized insights CoE, uniquely combining sophisticated quantitative analytics with strategic pharmaceutical consulting. BMI consultants work side-by-side with strategy team members on high-stakes client engagements. Our lean, entrepreneurial structure accelerates your growth: high performers quickly progress from executing analyses to leading workstreams to managing client relationships. We have offices in NY, San Francisco, Boston, London, Zurich, Mumbai & Gurgaon.As an Associate / Associate Consultant in the Analytics practice, you will be an integral part of project teams delivering data-driven solutions to pharmaceutical and life sciences clients. You will build foundational analytical skills while contributing to work that drives real commercial impact—supported by a team that wins together and a culture that rewards curiosity.Primary ResponsibilitiesAnalytics Execution & Data ManagementExecute analyses leveraging secondary data sources, commercial datasets, and primary research outputs to support strategic client questionsBuild and maintain analytical models including segmentation, forecasting, regression, and market sizing under the guidance of senior team membersStructure, clean, and synthesize complex datasets from sources such as IQVIA, claims/EMR data, and proprietary survey data to uncover actionable patternsDevelop dashboards, visualizations, and analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) that enable teams to interpret and act on findingsEnsure data integrity and analytical rigor through systematic quality control processesCommunication & CollaborationTranslate analytical findings into clear, concise summaries for internal project teams, contributing to deliverable developmentSupport the creation of client-ready presentations, reports, and executive summaries under senior guidanceCollaborate across multidisciplinary teams spanning market research, strategy consulting, and technology—always solving for the “so what” behind the dataParticipate in internal project meetings and contribute analytical perspectives to team discussionsProblem-Solving & Professional GrowthApply structured problem-solving approaches to break down analytical tasks within broader project plansProactively seek to understand the business context behind each analysis—building commercial intuition alongside technical skillsIdentify opportunities to improve analytical processes, tools, and methodologies and share learnings with the teamGrowth Opportunity: As you develop, you will take on increasing client interaction, present findings directly to stakeholders, and begin mentoring newer team members.Desired Experience & SkillsTechnical & AnalyticalProficiency with Python, R, SQL, SAS, or similar statistical softwareAdvanced Excel skills including complex modeling, data manipulation, and automation (VBA a plus)Experience with data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)Strong quantitative reasoning and ability to select appropriate statistical methodologiesExposure to pharmaceutical commercial data (e.g., prescription data, claims data, market research datasets) preferredCommunication & Work ManagementStrong written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain analytical work clearly to non-technical audiencesSolid PowerPoint skills for contributing to executive-quality presentationsDemonstrated accountability, attention to detail, and strong time managementIntellectual curiosity and drive for continuous learningBusiness & Domain Awareness (Nice to have)Foundational understanding of pharmaceutical commercial operations (sales force effectiveness, market access, launch planning)Familiarity with therapeutic area dynamics, competitive landscapes, and the broader healthcare ecosystemEagerness to build domain knowledge and translate business questions into analytical frameworksQualificationsBS degree in life sciences, statistics, mathematics, engineering, economics, or related quantitative field (MS/PhD preferred)1–4 years of experience in quantitative analytics, preferably within life sciences consulting, pharmaceutical industry, or healthcare analytics (Associate: 0-1 years, Associate Consultant: 2-4 years + BS degree, or 2 years + MS degree)Compensation & BenefitsBase salary range: $70,000 – $130,000 per year.
