Job Title: Police Liaison Lead
Reports To: Designated Administrator
Terms of Employment: Ten month employee, part-time*
Hourly salary as established by the Agreement
Qualifications

- Must be a registered State of Illinois Police Officer.
- Ability to cooperate with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students.
- Evidence of good judgment, trustworthiness, flexibility and emotional maturity.
- Active full time police officer or retired in good standing.
- Previous experience in a school environment preferred.
Job Goals
The officer in charge will assist in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitors designated areas of the buildings and grounds.
- Assign and monitor the positions and locations for the unarmed security personnel in collaboration with campus administration.
- Accept other tasks on an as needed basis.
- Wear uniforms per school district guidelines.
- Ensure payroll is completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure safety of the building and district office through appropriate scheduling for building security, school events, and school board meetings.
- Maintain high visibility throughout the school day, supervise traffic, patrol parking lots, hallways, cafeteria areas, gym areas, etc.
- Assist the school administration in the development and implementation of the Crisis Plan.
- Conduct classroom activities to enhance students' knowledge and understanding to matters related to law enforcement.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Prepare appropriate documentation for officers (evaluations and disciplinary)
- Coordinate all matters relevant to student and staff that deal with the Village's police jurisdiction within the School District.
- Provide security consultation for Rich East High School as needed and complete a security survey for the building.
- Intervene with students who demonstrate grossly inappropriate behavior.
- Assist school personnel when they are interacting with difficult and/or aggressive students, parents or community members.
- When requested, attend school board meetings or school functions.
- Provide assistance as a member of the School District's Crisis Team.
- Provide information and give presentations to students and staff regarding traffic laws, criminal laws, juvenile law and operations of the courts.
- Interact with students through positive role modeling.
- Build a rapport with the court system, students, staff and parents.
- Be available to appear and testify in court proceedings and school suspension review and expulsion hearings as necessary.
- Cooperate closely with school officials in appropriate referral of rules violators for resolution of school rule infractions.
- Be active in police action involving students during school hours, including the investigation of all criminal activity complaints that take place on school grounds.
- Facilitate communication between the Police Department and other law enforcement agencies and school officials.
- Patrol school and grounds, as necessary, and assist school administrators and staff in crime prevention programs.
