Police Trainee
The City of Marina is seeking a Police Trainee. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees, including Flexible Spending Account, health, dental, vision, life insurance, long term disability, retirement, holidays, vacation & sick leave.
The Police Trainee will attend and successfully pass the State of California POST Basic Police Academy. This trainee-level classification is non-sworn and incumbents will learn to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work, participate in community policing activities, patrol an assigned area for the prevention of crime and the maintenance of law and order, perform investigative work and other special assignments, and perform a variety of technical law enforcement tasks as assigned by the academy and or department.
The essential duties and responsibilities include successfully completing the required State of California POST Basic Police Training Academy and obtaining the Certificate of Completion, and performing related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include the ability to learn the laws of arrest, search and seizure, law enforcement methods and procedures, criminal laws, codes, ordinances, and policies and procedure, the safe use and care for firearms, equipment, tools and supplies, and the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of this job classification.
Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, stooping/bending, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, climbing, twisting/turning, kneeling, reaching, and visual, hearing and mental capacity.
The environmental demand includes exposure to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, vibrations, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, hazardous materials, and potentially infectious materials such as bodily fluids including blood, transmissible diseases and needles.
