Position: Sworn Police OfficerHourly pay: $33.12 ($68,890.76 annually) to $44.75 ($93,074.12 annually), based on qualificationsClassification: Full-time permanent (non-exempt)Probation Period: One yearReporting To: Shift Supervisor (Lieutenant) through the chain of command to the Police ChiefJob Description:Pierce Township is seeking dedicated and community-oriented individuals to join our police department as Sworn Police Officers. In this role, you will perform essential law enforcement duties, act as ambassadors for our community, and ensure public safety. This position is ideal for those who are passionate about serving and protecting the community while upholding the law.Primary Responsibilities: Perform duties in accordance with departmental policies and local, state, and federal laws.Patrol assigned areas to maintain order, enforce laws, and assist citizens.Respond to dispatch calls, investigate complaints, and conduct interviews.Secure crime scenes, document evidence, and prepare reports.Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies as needed.Enforce traffic laws, conduct sobriety tests, and monitor traffic control.Maintain proficiency with law enforcement tools, including firearms and defensive techniques.Engage in community policing and listen to public needs.Attend training seminars and participate in ongoing professional development.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient in all facets of law enforcement and conflict management.Strong communication skills, both oral and written.Ability to solve complex problems and make informed decisions under pressure.Commitment to high ethical standards and integrity.Physical ability to perform law enforcement duties, including the ability to engage in physical confrontations if necessary.Entry-level Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointmentOPOTC certified by the time of appointmentAssociate's Degree preferred , but not requiredMust be in good physical conditionMust possess a valid driver's licenseLateral Transfer Qualifications: Must meet all Entry-Level qualifications , plus: A minimum of 5 years of full-time experience with a similarly sized departmentLateral officers may be hired above Step #1 (DOE)Uniforms, equipment, and dry-cleaning providedLongevity pay after 10 yearsPaid holidays, training, and sick timeDeferred compensation program (optional)Three-month Field Training Program88 hours of vacation after one yearHiring Process: Oral Interview BoardPolygraph ExaminationMedical Exam / Drug TestPsychological ExamInterested candidates must complete a Pierce Township employment application , available by following the link below:Return completed resumes to: Pierce Township Police Department950 Locust Corner RoadCincinnati, Ohio 45245Questions?
