Summary
Position is located at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge and will last for approximately 3 months (999 hrs maximum).Responsibilities will include participating in many aspects of wildlife, habitat, and facility management at McPherson State Fishing Lake, the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, Black Kettle State Fishing Lake, and the Buffalo Hill Hiking Trails property. The incumbent will work on the public facilities maintenance on the two lakes and the hiking trails. This individual will also assist the Public Lands Manager with other duties such as spraying invasive plants and fence and sign maintenance. They may assist the friends' group with tours. The capability to operate chain saws, tractors, skid loaders, agricultural equipment, and various vehicles and equipment is required. This is a seasonal position and the individual will work 40 hours/week.Pay Rate: $15.18 per hourMinimum Requirements Enrollment in or completion of wildlife, fisheries, or other natural resource-related course of study preferred, but not required.Interest in and knowledge of farming, construction, range management, or forestry will be considered in candidate selection.Ability to identify grass, forb, and tree species a plus.Must be physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks in a variety of outdoor conditions.Must have a valid driver's license.Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
