Job Description

The Port of South Louisiana's mission is to serve the maritime transportation needs of resident industry; assist resident industry in developing maritime and industrial facilities; encourage foreign and domestic investment within the River Parishes Region and Louisiana; and attract foreign and domestic cargo to the Globalplex Intermodal Terminal. This position supports the safety and security of Port of South Louisiana facilities, property, employees, tenants, and visitors by monitoring access to Port locations, conducting routine patrols, monitoring security and fire alarms, and responding to suspicious activity or other security concerns. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, dependability, attention to detail, strong observation and communication skills, and the ability to consistently follow established security and access-control procedures. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the safe and secure operation of a major maritime and industrial organization.

Minimum Qualifications

No experience or training is required. Necessary special requirements include being at least 18 years of age and possibly possessing a current Louisiana driver's license.

Job Duties And Other Information

Job duties include guarding all Port of South Louisiana property and equipment to prevent theft, vandalism, and other crimes; entering information onto logs identifying persons entering and leaving the Port; checking identification/TWIC cards for all persons entering Port grounds and facilities; routinely patrolling all Port of South Louisiana owned grounds and buildings by foot and/or vehicle; checking secured gates, doors, and windows of buildings in assigned areas; monitoring fire and security alarms for Port owned buildings, including tenants, and notifying law enforcement or fire department when needed; and directing traffic of vehicles entering the Port of South Louisiana entrances. Position-specific details include a work schedule of Monday - Friday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm, and compensation based on qualifications and experience.
