Division Overview:

The Gambling Control Division's (GCD) mission is maintaining a uniform regulatory climate that is fair and free of corrupt influences. The division is also responsible for collecting gambling revenue for state and local governments. In addition to gambling regulation, GCD works with the Department of Cannabis & Alcohol Regulation Division to provide licensing, auditing, and investigative services.

Job Overview :

The Background Compliance Investigator position is primarily responsible for managing and conducting department-wide pre-employment background investigations to evaluate candidate suitability, verify credentials, and maintain strict quality and compliance standards across all hires.

This position will also be responsible for investigative support to the Gambling Control Division, the Department of Revenue-Alcoholic Beverage Control Division and Tobacco Division by conducting background, suitability, financial, corporate and other inquiries of applicants for licensure and non-institutional lenders to ensure they comply with the public policy of the state.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, sociology, or related field.
• Two years of job-related experience.
• Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted

Preferred Qualifications:

• A law enforcement officer with a valid MT POST certificate
• A current or former law enforcement officer who will qualify for MT POST certification through equivalency testing within 1 year of hire.
• Other background or compliance experience considered

Special Instructions:

The selection procedures to be used in evaluating the applicant's qualification may include, but are not limited to, an evaluation of the résumé and cover letter, a structured interview, performance test, academic transcripts, reference/background checks and fingerprint checks.
