Summary

Hiring DepartmentState Historical SocietyJob DescriptionTo process manuscript collections, conduct research room services,and promote manuscript materials.Accession, arrange, describe and otherwise process manuscript,photograph, audio-visual, oral histories, electronic records, andother research materials in accordance with standard and localprinciples and practices.Assist patrons by providing reference services to thecollection.Assist in the appraisal of records and items within thecollection. Maintain an accurate and complete collectiondescription and inventory. Prepare reports and statistics on workprogress.Assist in the development of strategies for the preservation andreformatting of materials in the collection.Conduct basic preservation of materials such as cleaning andmending of damaged papers.Promote collections using social media platforms and SHSMOpublications.Continue education through attending conferences, seminars, andprofessional meetings.Other duties as assigned.ShiftMonday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pmMinimum QualificationsA Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalentcombination of education and experience and at least 2 years ofexperience from which comparable knowledge and skills can beacquired is necessary.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in History or Library Science or an equivalentcombination of education and experience from which comparableknowledge and abilities can be acquired.Demonstrates understanding of archival standards.Experience working with audio-visual materials.Should have experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.Excellent visual, communication, and public speakingskills.Anticipated Hiring RangeSalary Range: $22.92 - $23.61 per hourGradeGGS 008University TitleManuscript SpecialistInternal applicants can determine their University title byaccessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.Sponsorship InformationEmployment visa sponsorship is not available for thisposition.Benefit EligibilityThis position is eligible for University benefits.
