The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) welcomes applications for the position of Degree Completion Specialist in the Office of the Registrar. We are looking for a highly-motivated, team-oriented individual with strong organizational skills, an attention to detail, and previous exposure to database and content management software. Applicants should appreciate the structure policies and regulation provide and be ready to operate in a fast-paced, technology-rich environment aimed at generating efficiencies. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the student record and providing a high standard of customer service.

As the Degree Completion Specialist, you will manage and maintain UAA's degree auditing system, DegreeWorks. The specialist is a key resource for students, faculty, and advisors regarding graduation processes, academic regulations, and degree requirements. This position serves as a subject matter expert, responsible for coding and updating over 100 academic programs, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure system accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities include evaluating and awarding degrees, providing data analysis and reporting, and assisting with NCAA eligibility certification. The specialist also reviews curriculum changes submitted by the academic departments to Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Boards to determine how the changes will be implemented in DegreeWorks.

A willingness to learn new technologies and work both independently and collaboratively is essential. Experience in higher education or a similar service setting is required; familiarity with systems like Banner, DegreeWorks, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
