Summary
Under the direction of a Supervisor, the Program Specialist1 will assist with implementing, monitoring, and strategically planning the Rural Health Transformation-Community Health Worker Programs and the Colette Lamothe Galette-Community Health Worker Institute (CLG-CHWI), focusing on comprehensive grants management activities. Ensure timely, accurate documentation for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reports, with attention to detail and adherence to compliance standards. Program Specialist-1 will assist in the strategic planning to align program goals and objectives with CMS strategies.
Collect, organize, and analyze program-related data to inform evidence-based decision-making processes. The candidate will help coordinate on-site visits to evaluate grantee compliance and program requirements, which require an understanding of relevant regulations and the ability to assess and guide grantees toward optimal performance.
Develop and implement solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness and elevate service delivery standards. Prepare detailed reports and support program objectives. Utilize SAGE and RedCap to monitor grant and program activities and financial performance to ensure alignment with program goals and fiscal responsibility. Research new funding opportunities, assist with grant writing, and help cultivate partnerships to expand program reach and impact.
Assist with managing program calendars, coordinating communications, processing vendor reimbursements, tracking and following up on program needs, and ensuring all necessary grant and program-related tasks are completed efficiently.
Assist with tasks such as answering phones, handling mail, responding to external inquiries on behalf of the program and facilitating day-to-day operations needed for the Maternal and Child Health Services (Reproductive Perinatal and Health Services).
Learn to review and monitor specific program activities administered by the agency and make appropriate recommendations to ensure that standards and procedures are followed and that the quality of the program meets acceptable standards.
Learn to review, analyze, and comment on legislation, field, management, and fiscal reports that relate to specific program areas to identify problematic areas.
Learn to monitor federal and state policies, regulations, laws, rules, and administrative orders for changes and compliance.
Learn to respond to and coordinate requests from internal units, individuals, and other agencies to provide information concerning program activities.
Learn to render technical assistance in specialized program areas to internal units and external agencies to facilitate, promote, and coordinate services and minimize errors.
REQUIREMENTS:
NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Five (5) years of professional experience in planning, monitoring, coordinating, implementing, modifying and/or evaluating agency programs and services.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR
Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline appropriate for the position.
NOTE: “Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
