Upon completion of the recruit training, you will be responsible for protective services work as well as the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes. This work may involve personal risk and requires sound, independent judgment in all situations. All uniforms and equipment are provided by the department. In addition, you will be issued a take home patrol car.Incentive/Sign-on BonusApplicants already certified will be eligible for the following incentives if hired:Tennessee POST Certification $5,000 incentiveOther state POST Certification (requires transition school) $2,500 incentiveRecruitment and Retention GrantEligibility:Experienced Officer - Category 1If Previously POST certified in Tennessee - Must Be out of law enforcement 1-7 year(s)If previously POST certified from out of state - No break in service requiredEligible at 6-months ($1,000), 12-months ($3,000), 24-months ($3,000), 36-months ($3,000)No Previous Certified Experience - Category 2If no prior POST certified law enforcement experienceEligible at 12-months ($3,000), 24-months ($2,500), 36-months ($2,500)Documented evidence of the training level must be provided and is subject to verification by the Human Resources department. All certifications must be issued by or approved by the State of Tennessee.BenefitsThe City offers an attractive benefit package that includes TCRS Hybrid retirement plan, health, life, long-term disability. Voluntary benefit plans such as dental, vision, flex spending, specific disease, and short-term disability are also available.
