Summary
About the Role
Uplift is looking for a BI Analyst with a finance background to sit at the intersection of technology and portfolio finance infrastructure. You'll live inside the tech team day-to-day, but you'll run with a dotted line to the CFO and the Head of Portfolio Infrastructure, turning portfolio company and fund-level data into reporting and decision intelligence that partners, deal teams, and leadership actually trust and use.
This role is equal parts finance fluency and BI engineering: you understand the metrics that matter in private equity, fund performance, portfolio company operating KPIs, deal economics — and you can build the data models, semantic layers, and Power BI reporting that make those metrics self-serve across the firm.
What You'll Own
Portfolio BI Reporting & Decision Intelligence
• Build and maintain Power BI reporting and dashboards that give the CFO, Portfolio Infrastructure and Uplift leadershipa consistent, trusted view of portfolio performance.
• Partner with the CFO and Portfolio Infrastructure to translate finance and value-creation questions into structured, repeatable analytics rather than one-off spreadsheet requests.
• Own the data modeling behind BI reporting at Uplift: datamarts, cubes, and semantic models that sit between raw source systems and the reports people actually use.
• Maintain data quality and consistent metric definitions so “the number” means the same thing whether it's viewed by the CFO, a deal partner, or a Portco CTO.
• Partner with portfolio company operating and financial KPI reporting to influence how — revenue, EBITDA, cash flow, and other metrics are tracked across Portcos — with a finance-grade understanding of how those numbers are built.
DealCloud & Data Platform
• Work hands-on in DealCloud — data model, fields, pipelines, and reporting extracts — as a key source system feeding portfolio BI.
• Build and maintain the data pipelines and integrations that move data from DealCloud and other source systems into datamarts and reporting cubes.
• Work with the technology team on the underlying data architecture, ensuring the BI layer is built on a scalable, well-governed foundation.
Cross-Functional
• Act as the bridge between the tech team and finance/Portfolio Infrastructure stakeholders — translating business and investment questions into data requirements, and data structures back into plain-English answers.
• Support ad hoc analysis for the CFO and Portfolio Infrastructure around portfolio performance, value creation initiatives, and decision intelligence needs.
• Document data definitions, report logic, and data lineage so reporting stays auditable and maintainable as the portfolio grows.
What You Bring
• Finance background — prior experience in FP&A, corporate finance, portfolio/fund reporting, investment banking, or a related finance function, with genuine comfort in financial statements and PE/portfolio metrics.
• Strong hands-on Power BI experience — data modeling, DAX, report and dashboard development, and workspace administration.
• DealCloud experience required — comfortable working in its data model and configuration, not just viewing records.
• Deep understanding of datamarts, cubes, and dimensional modeling — star/snowflake schemas, OLAP cubes or tabular models, and how to design a semantic layer that reports can be built on reliably.
• Strong SQL skills and comfort with modern data stack concepts (warehouses, ETL/ELT, APIs).
• Ability to work independently across two worlds — sitting in the tech org day-to-day while being responsive and credible to finance/Portfolio Infrastructure stakeholders.
• Excellent communicator — equally comfortable in a data model review with engineers and a reporting walkthrough with the CFO.
Nice to Have
• Experience supporting private equity or portfolio company reporting specifically, versus general corporate BI.
• Exposure to Azure Analysis Services, SSAS, or similar cube/tabular-model technologies.
• Familiarity with other data visualization or analytics tools (Tableau, Looker) alongside Power BI.
• An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
What Success Looks Like
• The CFO and Portfolio Infrastructure team have a single, trusted Power BI reporting layer for portfolio performance — no more reconciling competing spreadsheets.
• Uplift generated portfolio KPI questions get answered from existing reporting in minutes, not through a new ad hoc data pull each time.
• DealCloud data flows cleanly into well-modeled datamarts, and the semantic layer underneath BI reporting is documented and maintainable.
• Technology and Finance/Portfolio Infrastructure both see this person as “theirs” — a trusted, embedded partner rather than a ticket queue.
Logistics
• Location / Work model: Hybrid — Darien, CT preferred; open to remote
We do not sponsor visas. Must be eligible to work in the USA
