We’re partnering with a school district to hire a dedicated Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) for the 2026–2027 school year.
This full-time, onsite opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact supporting students’ academic, functional, and social-emotional growth. You’ll collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality, student-centered instruction and support.
Position Details:
- Location: Onsite in Marion County, Indiana
- Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (staff hours: 7:10 AM–3:10 PM)
- School Year: 2026–2027 (through 6/3/2027)
- Setting: Elementary (Grades 1-4)
- Caseload: 10-12 students
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 37.5
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support for students in a Life Skills classroom setting.
- Develop and implement instruction focused on functional academics, daily living skills, independence, and social communication.
- Support student goals aligned to IEPs, including skill-building for school participation and long-term independence.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning, goal development, and progress reporting.
- Maintain accurate documentation for services provided, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements.
- Use evidence-based strategies to support behavior, communication, and functional skill development in the school environment.
- Ensure compliance with special education regulations and district policies.
Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana teaching license appropriate for Special Education assignment
- Mild Intervention required; Intense Intervention preferred
- Experience (or strong interest) in Life Skills / functional classroom environments
- Knowledge of IEP processes, special education compliance, and school-based service delivery
- Strong communication, collaboration, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to build positive, structured learning environments that support diverse learner needs
