We’re working with a growing fire protection engineering consultancy that is looking to hire a Principal / Director of Fire Protection Engineering to build, lead, and grow a national practice. This role blends technical leadership, client development, and strategic growth, and is ideal for someone who enjoys being both a trusted technical authority and a visible industry leader.
You’ll have the autonomy to shape the direction of the business, grow client relationships, and build a team — while still staying close enough to the work to ensure technical excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and grow a fire protection engineering practice at a national level
- Drive business development, including client relationship management, proposal strategy, and market expansion
- Serve as senior technical authority on complex fire and life safety projects
- Develop and mentor a team of fire protection engineers
- Represent the firm in client meetings, industry events, and professional organizations
- Support long-term strategic planning and revenue growth
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the organization
What We’re Looking For:
- 12–20+ years of fire protection engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection (required)
- Proven experience in business development, client growth, or practice leadership
- Strong technical background across fire alarm, suppression, life safety, and performance-based design
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance strategy, leadership, and delivery
- Excellent communication and client-facing presence
