Summary
About LearnviaLearnvia is a nonprofit learning collaborative that brings educators and researchers together to improve student success in gateway math courses — courses that can open the door to degree completion, STEM pathways, and high-demand careers. By helping more students succeed in these critical courses, Learnvia aims to expand opportunity for students and strengthen the pipeline into fields that drive innovation.
Launched by Carnegie Mellon University in 2025 and generously supported by the Gates Foundation, Learnvia brings educators and researchers together to turn the science of learning into classroom practice. We pair smarter learning tools with faculty support, professional learning, peer collaboration, and continuous research to strengthen teaching and learning over time.
With support from the National Science Foundation, Learnvia is expanding its gateway mathematics courseware to 45 two-year and broad-access institutions over three years, across Pre-Calculus, Calculus I–III, and Quantitative Reasoning. The initiative will build a national network of educators and institutions working together to improve student outcomes, reaching hundreds of faculty and tens of thousands of students each year.
Reporting to the Director of Faculty Success, the Program Coordinator will manage recruitment, onboarding, institutional coordination, and logistics for workshops and summer institutes, ensuring alignment across all participating institutions. This role is the primary point of contact for partner institutions from first conversation through full implementation. It is essential for scaling the Learnvia implementation, supporting faculty engagement, and maintaining the continuous improvement cycles central to the project.
Joining at a formative stage, the Program Coordinator will help shape how institutions experience Learnvia: how they hear about the initiative, how they decide to join, how they get started, and how they stay connected to a growing community of practice. This is an opportunity to apply strong coordination and communication skills to a mission-driven effort with national visibility.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized relationship-builder who is equally comfortable writing a recruitment email, running an information session, and managing the details of a 60-person summer institute. They bring a service mindset toward faculty and institutional partners and understand the realities of teaching and working at community colleges and broad-access institutions.
They thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, can manage many institutional relationships at once, and take ownership of systems that keep a multi-year, multi-institution initiative on track. They communicate clearly and warmly, follow through reliably, and enjoy building processes from the ground up.
