    This position will be located at Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101

    Duration of Assignment: May through August.

    • Evaluate and compare different wastewater technology’s ammonia and nutrient removal performances.
    • Compile design criteria of existing wastewater treatment facilities that utilize innovative technologies
    • Evaluate cost information for construction projects.
    • Technology research for treatment options and methods for emerging pollutants of concerns, including, but not limited to, per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), metals, pharmaceuticals, etc.
    • Provide research and support for rulemaking processes.


    To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

    • Engineering Major
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Have completed at least some introductory engineering classes

    Experience to be Gained:

    • Understand the missions and values of the Department of Natural Resources.
    • Experience a broad range of wastewater treatment technologies.
    • Gain knowledge of wastewater treatment design standards.
    • Learn how wastewater effluent limits are calculated and established through the antidegradation and NPDES permitting process.
    • Gain knowledge about how government agencies function.
