    The Position

    The Forestry Fleet Coordinator coordinates and supervises the statewide operational activities of the Nevada Division of Forestry's (NDF) Fleet Program to include, but not limited to: supervision of personnel; purchase, maintenance, and repair of all equipment which includes light, medium, and heavy vehicles and movable maintenance, forestry, and natural resource equipment; fuel for use by all agency vehicles, equipment, and tools including other non-rental equipment; purchase parts, materials, and supplies; develop, review, revise, and implement policies and procedures related to vehicle and equipment use within the agency; and oversee the management and accountability of the agency's property inventory.

    The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (NDCNR), protects, manages, and enhances the State's resources to provide the highest quality of life for Nevada's citizens and visitors. The NDCNR with over 900 employees consists of the Director's Office and the following divisions and programs: Environmental Protection, Forestry, State Lands, State Parks, Water Resources, Outdoor Recreation, Natural Heritage, State Historic Preservation Office, Off-Highway Vehicles, Sagebrush Ecosystem, and the Conservation Districts Program. The Department also provides support staff to the Nevada Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and has responsibility for numerous Boards, Commissions, and Councils. The Department has locations and/or provides program services in every community of the State. The Nevada Division of Forestry is recruiting for a Forestry Fleet Coordinator which will be located in Carson City. The incumbent will manage contracts, leases, and agreements; gather and evaluate budget reviews and requests; oversee specialized programs and activities for statewide implementation; manage the statewide preventive maintenance program; prepare and administer bid specifications for automobiles, trucks, and equipment, including parts and repairs for fleet maintenance operations; prepare new vehicles and equipment for distribution to Fire, Camp, and Natural Resource programs; and manage all statewide specialty equipment. This position directly supervises Equipment Mechanics that are located in multiple locations across the state. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, or related field and two years of professional experience which included responsibility for planning, organizing, and directing the operations of an equipment repair facility(s) or managing fleet operations in a government setting; developing operating procedures; reviewing specifications for bids; and budget development; one year which included supervision of staff; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described, one year which included supervision of staff; OR two years of experience as an Equipment Mechanic IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Incumbents may be required to obtain and maintain certification as an Agency Certified Contract Manager. Special Requirements A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
