    The current vacancy is at Ventura County’s outpatient clinic, Eastman Therapy Services-a leading healthcare provider dedicated to serving pediatric patients in our community. We are committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to children and their families, and our team of healthcare professionals strives to make a positive impact every day.

    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Outpatient Pediatric Physical Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with infants, children, and adolescents, and possess strong clinical skills in pediatric care.

    Under direction, the Physical Therapist evaluates referred patients, plans and administers individualized treatment programs for habilitation and rehabilitation, and coordinates necessary resources. The role also involves supervising the clinical work of staff physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, aides, volunteers, and students, as needed. Additional related duties may be assigned.

    Senior Physical Therapist is represented by the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation.

    The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular (including Temporary and Fixed-term), Intermittent, and Extra Help vacancies within the Health Care Agency. There is currently one (1) Regular vacancy.

    Examples Of Duties

    Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Examines, evaluates, designs treatment plans to meet the physical and functional needs of patients.
    • Provide services from newborn to 21 with variety of disorders and conditions that may include but not limited to developmental delays, premature infants, neurological conditions, movement disorders, musculoskeletal disorder and injuries, gait abnormalities, orthopedic conditions, torticollis.
    • Coordinates physical therapy programs with patient/caregiver, other team members, and involved in the care of assigned patients.
    • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, occupational therapist, speech therapist and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
    • Document patient progress, treatment plans and outcomes appropriately and in a timely manner.
    • Provides in-service training.
    • Supervises the clinical skills of staff therapists.
    • Participates in the maintenance of departmental equipment and ordering of supplies.
    • Assists in identifying and prioritizing department needs and overall planning.
    • Supervises assistants, aides, students, volunteers, and clerical staff in the absence of the supervisor.
    • Provides patient and family education to assist in the achievement of functional goals.
    • Participates in improving organizational performance.
    • Under supervision, develops and implements department programs.
    • May be asked to participate in specialty clinics such as High Risk infant follow-up clinic.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.


    Typical Qualifications

    These are entrance requirements to the exam process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
    • A Bachelor‘s degree from an accredited school of physical therapy, or proof of equivalency
    AND
    • Two (2) years of physical therapy experience;
    OR
    • Successful completion of an internship program with the hiring department or an equivalent training program and one year of experience as a Physical Therapist.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Possession and maintenance of a current valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California; or must be eligible to apply for and obtain a valid California Physical Therapist License.
    • Possession of a current valid California driver license by time of hire.
    • Possession and maintenance of a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate by hire date.
    • Some experience working with pediatric patients.
    • Live scan fingerprinting clearance may be required prior to appointment.
    • Must possess the physical ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
    Comprehensive knowledge of: the principles of human anatomy and physiology; administer various types of physical therapy treatment utilizing manual therapy techniques, exercise, and equipment; departmental processes and procedures; care and maintenance of physical therapy equipment and principles; practices and techniques used in physical therapy among infant and pediatric patients.

    Working ability to: establish effective working relationships with patients, physicians, and co-workers; plan and supervise the work of others; and ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form.
