This position is ideal for a hands-on DBA who is passionate about managing data systems, building robust data integrations, and helping drive data accessibility and usability across the County. This role also provides an opportunity to collaborate with other engineers and technicians as well as skilled professionals outside of the IST department.

In this position, you will have responsibility for:

    Core Database Administration:

    • Monitor database performance, job execution, and alerts.
    • Manage database security, backups, and disaster recovery protocols.
    • Create and maintain automated SQL Agent jobs, SSIS packages and SFTP processes.
    • Support data/application migrations and troubleshoot database issues.
    • Configure, manage, and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) environments, including site architecture, folder structures, and report deployment.
    • Maintain documentation related to database procedures and standards.

    • Extract, transform, and load data into modern data models and repositories.
    • Assist in building and supporting modern data platforms, including cloud data lakes and warehouses.

The Advanced level engineer is the advanced journey level in the Systems Engineer series, and performs complex technical assignments with minimal supervision, occasional instruction and assistance, and review of final products.

The Senior level engineer is the technical specialist level in the series and works with greater latitude to define the parameters and work methods of assignments. They typically manage projects independently and provide guidance to less experienced team members.

Work Schedule and Remote Work Options: Occasional night and weekend work is required for tasks that cannot be performed during normal work hours.

Some duties for this position may be performed remotely and options for a hybrid (telework/onsite) work schedule are available. However, engineers on this team must be able to work onsite in San Rafael on a weekly basis and to report for various meetings and work assignments upon short notice, as needed and when deemed appropriate.
