Position DescriptionTacoma Water is looking for an Electrical Engineer to fill a Senior Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineer, PE level position. The Electrical Engineer designs, plans, recommends, implements, and commissions Water facilities electrical systems, and electrical control systems. You will work collaboratively with other electrical and control system engineers who will support your learning and growth in this position.
This position must work in office three days per week for the first three months, after which point a different hybrid work schedule may be considered.
Primary Responsibilities:Project Engineer- Perform appropriate level engineering duties in the preparation, implementation, coordination and analysis of engineering project, studies, systems, and functions
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering calculations and plans for engineering projects
- Inspect projects and related activities to assure compliance with specifications, commissioning plans, contracts, and applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations
- Evaluate and coordinate maintenance and/or repair of the electrical systems and cathodic protection systems.
Planner/Designer- Collaborate with other departments such as legal, real estate, and purchasing to create project specifications
- Review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, and related engineering documents such as commissioning plans
- Coordinate with other utilities to effectively manage interagency projects and to provide and collect necessary data for system operations
- Develop and implement procedures for maintaining and testing electrical system components to identify current trends and future needs
Problem Solver- Respond to and investigate issues with projects, contracts, and daily electrical and control system for the electrical and SCADA systems
- Research, analyze, and perform engineering calculations to assess electrical system faults, pipeline and reservoir corrosion protection, well pump efficiencies, as well as other analytical data to diagnose electrical system malfunctions or to improve electrical and control efficiencies
QualificationsElectrical Engineer, Senior Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or directly related field*
- 4 years of progressively responsible professional-level engineering experience*
Electrical Engineer, PE Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or directly related field*
- 4 years of professional level engineering experience*
- Washington State Licensed Professional Engineer
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Desired Qualifications: Experience with electrical service entrance systems, medium and low voltage switchgear, motor control systems, electronic system controls, protective device coordination and arc flash studies and safety
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements Washington State Driver's License
