    INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES
    The Information Technologies staff delivers creative, practical solutions and services in support of the current and future technological needs of El Dorado County. The Server Administration Division provides technical support for servers throughout the County, including: server security, hardware and software specifications and configurations, installation and customization, troubleshooting and maintenance, and coordination with vendors, when required, for problem resolution.

    THE OPPORTUNITY
    We are seeking a motivated and versatile IT Analyst to join our dynamic IT team. This role is responsible for supporting and administering key IT systems, including Active Directory, Windows Server administration, VMware virtual servers, and enterprise backup solutions such as Rubrik. The IT Analyst will also contribute to documentation, process improvement, and team collaboration while ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our environment. Support and maintain computer systems infrastructure, including servers, desktops, and third-party software, while analyzing requirements and developing client/server architectures, performing related duties as assigned.

    The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
    • Administer and support Active Directory, Windows Servers, VMware virtual servers, and Rubrik backup systems
    • Monitor system health, respond to incidents, and proactively address potential issues
    • Deploy, configure, and manage virtual server in VMware
    • Perform backup monitoring, testing, and recovery operations
    • Create and maintain clear documentation for procedures, troubleshooting, and configurations
    • Collaborate with team members to support departmental initiatives and provide cross-coverage
    • Participate in IT projects and provide technical expertise to support organizational goals
    • Maintain a strong focus on security, reliability, and efficiency in all work performed
    • Perform a diverse range of professional, analytical duties in the design, engineering, enhancement, administration, and maintenance of County information technology servers and related systems, including server hardware and infrastructure applications
    • Provide professional customer support for system-related software and/or hardware issues, needs, or requirements. Interact with clients to analyze system requirements; recommends technology solutions to improve operations
    • Determine needs and develop/design plans and proposals to meet the needs of department or enterprise infrastructure client/server users.
    • Plan, determine requirements, build, test, implement, maintain, and enhance department or enterprise desktop computer systems.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with counterparts in other classifications to integrate desktop computer systems for operability over multiple platforms and technologies.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT:
    The ideal candidate is a well-rounded IT professional with strong technical skills and a proactive mindset. They bring hands-on experience in server administration, virtualization, and enterprise backup systems, and are quick to analyze and resolve issues. They consistently produce clear documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff. Most importantly, this candidate takes initiative, seeks additional assignments, identifies process improvements, and learns new technologies to support the team and further contribute to the success of the organization.

    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
    Technical Expertise
    • Strong knowledge of Active Directory (user/group management, GPOs, authentication troubleshooting).
    • Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration (installation, patching, performance, monitoring, troubleshooting).
    • Familiarity with VMware virtual server deployment and management (creating/managing VMs, snapshots, resource allocation).
    • Experience with backup and recovery technologies, preferably Rubrik or equivalent enterprise class backup solutions.
    • Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls) to support troubleshooting.
    • Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation.

    Soft Skills & Collaboration
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; able to troubleshoot complex issues independently.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively on a team, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive team culture.
    • Demonstrated ability to take initiative; proactively seeking work, learning new technologies, improving processes, and supporting colleagues.

    Bonus Qualifications
    • Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell preferred).
    • Familiarity with ITIL processes and ticketing systems
    • Experience administering and troubleshooting MS Exchange Online environments

    Information Technology Analyst I - Server Design and Administration:

    Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field. Possession of one or more approved nationally recognized industry-specific technology certifications may be substituted for some or all of the education.

    OR

    Four (4) years of professional experience providing desktop computing administration, or support within an enterprise environment, operating systems analysis/design, data network analysis and design, systems analysis and design, or systems engineering or similar field in a multi-platform information systems environment.

    Information Technology Analyst II - Server Design and Administration:

    Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field; possession of one or more approved nationally recognized industry-specific technology certifications may be substituted for some or all of the education; and

    EITHER

    Three (3) years of professional experience providing analytical support for enterprise or departmental servers and platforms;

    OR

    Two (2) years of professional experience at a level equivalent to the County's class of Information Technology Analyst I - Server Design and Administration.

    Licenses and Certifications:
    Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Driver's License by time of appointment and a satisfactory driving record.
