    Salary Level: Based on preparation level and experience per Professional Technical Collective Bargaining Agreement. Range is $118,930 (Step 1) through $177,642 (step 29)

    Union/Days per year: 260 workdays, 12-month

    JOB SUMMARY

    This position supports the operational needs of district data services, with a focus on applying data privacy standards across district tools and systems. The role supports documenting and coordinating privacy practices, particularly those involving contracts, Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and compliance with relevant federal and state privacy laws. It also assists with data visualization and custom applications.

    In collaboration with technology teams, this role translates policy into user-friendly tools and procedures. The position engages both internal and external partners to support the implementation of practical, equitable, and collaborative data privacy strategies. This role supports the alignment between privacy standards, technical workflows, and user-facing tools across the district while fostering trust in both technical and instructional spaces.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Coordinates DSAs, MOUs, and contracts by collaborating with Legal, Security, Contracts, Custom Applications, and Data Teams to ensure documentation meets district needs and legal requirements, including product, research, survey, and partner agreements.Support the documentation and application of data privacy practices, including Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), to help teams implement consistent and secure practices across systems and workflows.Demonstrate knowledge of digital accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) and considers ADA compliance during technology evaluations.Collaborate with departments and school-based teams to clarify privacy-related requirements and create accessible, supportive materials.Participate in stakeholder sessions with staff and community partners to gather input and refine tools, expectations, and contract language.Assist with the intake and evaluation of new technologies and vendor partnerships, including privacy risk reviews, workflow development, status tracking, stakeholder assignments, and documentation uploads aligned with compliance frameworks.Develop and maintain documentation for privacy workflows, compliance reports, internal audits, and request processes. Support the Data & Applications and Information Security teams by gathering documentation, researching policy, assisting with technical writing, and updating compliance records.Responds to privacy-related inquiries from staff, students, and families in a clear, empathetic, and solution-oriented manner.Contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving tools that manage sensitive information, with a focus on equity, access, and transparency.Stay informed on emerging privacy-related technologies, laws, and best practices, including developments in educational technology and AI, and apply this knowledge through an equity lens.Support alignment across technical infrastructure, contracts, and procurement to ensure privacy, security, and accessibility requirements are met. Utilize district tools such as Power BI, Synergy SIS, Microsoft 365 Admin, privacy/compliance platforms, help desk ticketing systems, third-party applications, and custom applications.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    Reports to the Director of District Data Services. Collaborates closely with the Data & Applications and Information Security teams.

    CONDITIONS

    This role involves frequent interruptions and attention to detail. It includes working with confidential information and prolonged computer use. Travel between district sites may be required. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, and lift up to 20 pounds. May involve extended or irregular hours. Must navigate between technical, policy, and user-facing workstreams, often coordinating with teams that operate under different timelines and priorities.

    LEVEL - PT-9 FLSA NON-EXEMPT

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree with a preference for degree or experience in information systems, information security, policy, or compliance is preferred. Experience in information security or cybersecurity is preferred. Three years of increasingly responsible experience supporting teams, compliance documentation, policy research, vendor coordination, or educational records. Experience in working with K-12 student data systems, privacy platforms, or technology in the public sector is preferred. Familiarity with contract or policy language concerning data privacy or digital tools is preferred. Any combination of experience and training that equips the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job.

    Relevant Training and Certifications

    Cybersecurity or information security fundamentals (e.g., risk management, secure workflows, vendor review), accessibility standards and inclusive technology practices (e.g., WCAG 2.1, ADA, equity in digital tools), project coordination, change management, or collaborative workflow design (e.g., process mapping, stakeholder engagement, agile practices).

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge of K-12 educational compliance requirements such as COPPA, CIPA, and FERPA and the District responsibilities and requirements for compliance.

    Knowledge of general data security and safety standards.

    Knowledge of Washington State data requirements and laws that relate to education.

    Knowledge of contracts, MOU’s, DSA’s, and vendor or partner agreements.

    Skill in oral and written effective communications.

    Skill in providing quality customer service.

    Skill in managing compliance platforms.

    Skill in creating training materials.

    Skill in attention to detail.

    Skill in analytical thinking and problem-solving.

    Skill in interpreting and understanding technical documentation
