The Missouri State Fair is one of the oldest in the nation and continues to be the state's largest agricultural and tourism event located in Sedalia, Missouri. The State Fair provides a setting for Missouri's producers, agricultural leaders and farm families to increase awareness of our state's strong agricultural heritage. The facility also hosts hundreds of events on a year-round basis. We are currently looking for a Maintenance/Grounds Worker to join the off-season events team to help with our yearly events in addition to the annual Missouri State Fair.
The salary indicated represents the current regular pay rate for this position. If the individual selected is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., Years of Service), it will be added to total compensation on their paycheck. A pay differential does not raise base pay.- Assist with the setup, teardown, transportation, janitorial, and maintenance of all events hosted at the Missouri State Fairgrounds.
- Assist carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and other higher-level event staff.
- Operate equipment that includes but is not limited to forklift, skid steer, small tractors, floor scrubbers, and other types of heavy machinery.
- Operation of basic hand tools and small equipment such as mowers, trimmers, weed eaters and all-terrain vehicles.
- Be in regular contact with customers and provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to work weekends and flexible schedule as required.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least one (1) or more years of experience in building and plant maintenance and experience with maintenance equipment.
- Valid MO Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:- Dependable and hardworking individual
- Ability to work weekends and flexible hours (including evenings) as needed for events.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and ability to lift, bend, stoop and reach as job requires.
