DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Training: Responsible for conducting classroom training sessions, seminars, webinars, or workshops on topics such as equipment training (heavy and light duty) and operational certification to employee using a verity of instructional techniques. Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support training needs. Assist in the evaluation of training programs. Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling classes, preparing all instructional materials, setting up systems and equipment, and coordinating enrollment.
Performance: Analyzes data to identify trends in training effectiveness, attendance rates, employee satisfaction ratings, and other measurements of training success. Monitors the effectiveness of training on employees using individual or group performance results. Evaluating training effectiveness by administering pre-training and post-training tests to measure knowledge gained from the training session
. Identifies training needs within the Service Line, collaborating with managers to develop training programs, and implementing the training plan
. Conducts training needs assessments to identify areas where new hires need to be trained in order to perform their jobs effectively.
Administrative: Responds to internal customers written and telephone inquiries. Composes correspondence, etc.; prepares drafts on various departmental matters and edits material as required. All duties and responsibilities may not be included in the above job description. Assists in the development and creation of lesson plans and training aids. Participates in special projects as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS The position involves routine walking, periods of sitting, and occasional stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 40 pounds or equivalent weight) may be required.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier 1 Level and may require responding to emergency calls and working longer shifts including sleeping in the facility during an emergency. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Personnel Management or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Three years of professional personnel experience involving training in a formal classroom setting and/or the development of curriculum and lesson plans for adult learners is required.
Pertinent training experience on a professional level may be substituted for the above educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None.
PREFERENCES **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** GENERAL INFORMATION SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: None
