    Division Overview:

    The Montana Highway Patrol Communications Center provides law enforcement communication services for Highway Patrol Troopers, Montana Department of Justice employees, and numerous other state agencies. The Dispatchers provide emergency communication services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, serving Montana professionally, and compassionately.

    Job Overview :

    The Communications Center Manager (Program Manager) position oversees the Montana Highway Patrol Dispatch Communication Center. The Communication Center staff includes 3 Dispatcher Supervisors & 29 Dispatcher positions.

    The Communications Center Manager's duties include:
    • Assess program and client needs and ensure that program objectives are met.
    • Work with community members and other stakeholders to identify necessary programs and services.
    • Identify, suggest, or implement improvement to programs and services.
    • Plan and oversee outreach activities.
    • Review, interpret, and monitor compliance to guidelines, laws, and regulations.
    • Prepare reports
    • May provide training or technical assistance to partners
    • May investigate complaints and suspected violations
    • May coordinate activities of program committees or other groups and plan procedures
    • Work within program's funding sources to ensure compliance with regulations, legislative and rule change, and secured funds
    • Develop needs assessments, reporting requirements, and data measurements to determine program effectiveness
    • Oversee administrative aspects of programs to meet objectives
    • Create and develop policies or program guidelines
    • Supervise team of 3 Dispatch Shift Supervisors
    • Perform management functions including hiring, firing, performance management, discipline, work distribution, and employee development
    • Supervise the work of staff to ensure that programs are of appropriate quality and that resources are used effectively


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2 years of supervisory experience
    • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, or a specified field of expertise relevant to the program.
    • Five years of dedicated job-related experience.
    • Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted
