*Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Utility Billing Division of Houston Public Works (HPW) Department is responsible for the metering and billing of water, wastewater, and drainage utility services for the City of Houston. In our Planning & Scheduling area, we are seeking an analytical, critical thinker who is customer focused, results driven, self-motivated, and personable with great written and verbal communication skills. The Customer Service Representative II (CSR II) Planning & Scheduling will be responsible for the timely planning, scheduling and/or dispatching of field work orders to ensure billing and meter accuracy. This role requires the employee to be an effective communicator, detail oriented, systematic in following processes, organized, fast at adapting to workload changes and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. A candidate who has direct knowledge and experience in project management, customer service in a local government, utility billing and meter operations is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS Position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting materials of up to 10 pounds.
This is a Houston Public Works Department Position at the Tier I LevelMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two (2) years of Administrative or customer service-related experience are required.
Substitution: An Associate degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None
PREFERENCESPreference may be given to detailed and analytical applicants with utility billing, project management and advanced written and verbal communication skills. Ideal candidate will have knowledge of utility operations, INFOR system, and strong problem-solving skills.
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** GENERAL INFORMATION SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED The selection process will involve application review and/or interview. The department may administer skills assessment test.
