Job Location: This position will be located at 930 Wildwood Dr, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

    Why you’ll love this position:

As a Research Analyst with the Bureau of Health Care Analysis and Data Dissemination, you’ll use your analytical skills to turn data into insights that help improve the health and well-being of Missourians. This position will work closely with health data and help make the data easily understandable to the public. This will primarily be done through design techniques, written reports, and public presentations. In addition, this position will work closely with the Missouri Public Health Information Management System (MOPHIMS). You’ll enjoy meaningful work, a collaborative team, room to grow and a healthy work-life balance- all while making a real impact on Missouri’s communities.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

    • Assist with writing and editing regular reports such as the Biennial Missouri Rural Health Report and The State Health Improvement Plan.
    • Create and design quarterly newsletters for MOPHIMS. These newsletters bring together real public health topics and relate them back to the MOPHIMS tool, as well as give data updates. Newsletters are created within Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
    • Design and conduct presentations on health-related data topics. This includes MOPHIMS trainings and demonstrations that are done regularly.
    • Complete ad-hoc data requests through SAS or data website like the Census Bureau.
    • Create and design handouts and fact sheets for MOPHIMS and other health-related data topics.
    • Track performance measures for dashboards and websites using Google Analytics.
    • Work with others on the Data Dissemination team to enhance/improve MOPHIMS and other health data systems.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed). Transcripts are required.
    • Experience with spreadsheets and word processing programs such as Excel and Word, as well as other PC desktop resources.
    • Experience with SAS or other statistical software and general programming techniques is highly desirable but not required.
    • Interest in data presentation and data visualization software is helpful.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience with Adobe products such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are not required but would be beneficial.

Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

The State of Missouri offers an excellent benefits package that includes a defined pension plan, generous amounts of leave and holiday time, and eligibility for health insurance coverage. Your total compensation is more than the dollars you receive in your paycheck. To help demonstrate the value of working for the State of Missouri, we have created an interactive Total Compensation Calculator. This tool provides a comprehensive view of benefits and more that are offered to prospective employees. The Total Compensation Calculator and other applicant resources can be found here .
