Current vacancy is with the Sheriff’s Department located in Visalia. The anticipated life of the list is six months. Level I: $5,238 - $6,384Level II: $5,907 - $7,199Level III: $6,843 - $8,340Typical Duties- Use specific criminal data to provide analysis in support of all the member agencies including providing analysis products related to crime reporting and patterns and trends of incidents by types, locations, times, property taken, evidence left at the scene and other modus operandi factors.
- Produce crime bulletins, manual or computerized pin maps and link charts reflecting geographic particulars of criminal activity by jurisdiction and surveys of criminal and crime related activity.
- Provide crime pattern analysis looking at the similarities and differences among incidents to determine if they have been committed by the same individual or group and when further incidents will occur, develop criminal activity forecasts predicting the locations and severity of future crime.
- Provide crime summaries and charts, which analyze criminal activity and indicators to support the deployment of resources for a more proactive policing response.
- Use crime reports to develop GPS crime maps.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following.
Education: - Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with course work in criminology, business or public administration, computer science, systems analysis or closely related area.
Experience: - Level I: One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in a law enforcement environment providing technical support, data management or crime analysis.
- Level II: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in a law enforcement environment providing technical support, data management or crime analysis.
- Level III: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in a law enforcement environment providing technical support, data management or crime analysis.
Knowledge of :Level I- County government structure and procedures.
- Basic math sufficient to calculate distance and time.
- Computer equipment and its use; various types of software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheet, GPS/GIS mapping software.
- Terminology and nomenclature relevant to geographic information systems, surveying, mapping, computer-aided drafting and design (CADD).

- Basic techniques used in the diagnosis and repair of electronic surveillance equipment.

DESIRABLE EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS License or Certificate Level II/III - Department of Justice Crime and Intelligence Analysis Certificate.
Level III- Master’s degree in criminal justice or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
