Why you’ll love this position:The information systems intern provides entry-level technical or paraprofessional system support, monitors computer systems, assists end-users, and assists with programming tasks. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.
- Respond to user questions and provide user support; approve user access requests; log and document problems into tracking database; and resolve or request assistance in resolving problems.
- Monitor systems for failed communications and degraded performance on the local and wide area network; monitor and troubleshoot server operations; ensure server connection is active; communicate with users regarding related issues.
- Develop, modify, or update simple query programs, spreadsheets, and database reports; and design, develop, maintain, document, and test computer programs of limited complexity.
- Conduct physical inventories and maintain department records. Check results and prepare reports of testing activities; and update standards, policies, procedures, guidelines, and technical manuals.
- Ensure backups of all data are provided for ready restoration on all computing platforms; and copy and send backup tapes offsite for storage and disaster recovery purposes.
- Participate in installing, maintaining, moving, and protecting hardware and software; and create and schedule software distributions to servers and workstations.
Minimum Qualifications - Currently enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
- 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
- Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
