This position will focus on automating the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the organization’s cryptographic Key Management System (KMS). This position automates the secure generation, distribution, storage, rotation, and retirement of encryption keys in compliance with industry standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. The Automation Administrator will work closely with the Office of Cyber Security on server, network, application, risk and compliance to support encryption services across the enterprise.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD), supporting the Enterprise IT Operations Team.

- Automation of configuration and management of cryptographic key lifecycles (generation, distribution, rotation, archival, and destruction).
- Monitor and audit key usage to detect anomalies and ensure compliance with data security policies and regulations.
- Work with application, network, server, infrastructure, and cloud teams to integrate KMS into workflows and automate encryption processes.

- Coordinate with system owners and application developers to automate key rotation and credential renewal using service accounts with minimal service disruption.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all service accounts tied to encryption operations or cryptographic key usage.
- Conduct periodic reviews and access certifications to validate that service accounts only have the necessary permissions and cryptographic access needed for business operations, and participate in internal and external audits related to cryptographic key management, service account governance, and data protection controls.
- Automate the creation and rotation of certificates
A bachelor's or associate degree related to Computer Information Systems, including intermediate experience with the following, or similar, State of Missouri IT-related services:
- Knowledge of operating systems and applications.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity issues and preventative methods.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software.
- Familiarity with industry standards for cryptographic systems.
- Familiarity with YAML or JSON.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripting.
- Experience with Ansible Automation Platform is preferred but not required.
- Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
