Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.* *Subject to Change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Project Manager responsibilities are:
- Assist in the execution of the Mayor’s Civic Celebration Program; to encourage and promote the arts, related to the presentation, performance, execution and exhibition of various performing and visual art forms.
- Act as Operation and Production assistant for major events including the creative setup and load out of the event.
- Researches and recommends various creative event components and opportunities for events.
- Conducts on-site planning and evaluations of events.
- Coordinates operational activities and processes, within established rules, regulations and procedures.
- Receives permit applications, evaluates permit requests, and determines fee assessment, operational stipulations, fee collection and the issuing of permits.
- Works with private event producers on assigned events to ensure they successfully meet requisites and deadlines.
- Maintains community scheduling, reports and associated record keeping. Assist in the development and implementation of computerized programs relative to the event processing.
- Coordinate with other City departments and/or departmental staff to facilitate planning and operation of events.
- Monitor and evaluate permitted events and activities to ensure compliance with rules and regulations and ordinances.
- Prepares and maintains work plans and requisite sheets for all assigned events.
- Assist in developing and implementing policy and procedures related to special events as required by City Code.
- Represent the Director and act as liaison to other departments, government agencies and private sector organizations as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Will be required to drive on City business.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Project Management or a closely related field based on the responsibilities of the position. Considerable knowledge of design or construction is required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Four years of experience in construction, construction inspection, design, landscape design, geotechnical, environmental or a closely related field are required.
Directly related professional architectural, construction or landscape design experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Requires a valid Texas Class C driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
PREFERENCESKnowledge and preference of personal computer use, strong written and verbal communication skills; strong editing skills, able to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the community.
