POSITION OVERVIEW Applications Accepted from: ALL PERSONS INTERESTED Job Classification: SENIOR INVENTORY MANAGEMENT CLERK Posting Number: 37302 Department: Administration and Regulatory AffairsDivision: BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions/KennelReporting Location: 2700 Evella St, Houston, TX 77026Workdays & Hours: MONDAY - FRIDAY 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM* *Subject to Change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs manual and clerical tasks in ordering, purchasing, receiving, stocking, storing, issuance and distribution of inventory, tools, materials, supplies and equipment, Compares and verifies incoming inventory for quality, quantity, accuracy against invoices, purchase orders, packing slips, specifications, etc. Oversees and ensures inventory records are accurately maintained. Investigates, reports and resolves minor inventory discrepancies. Maintains storerooms, warehouse and storage area in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition. Lead and train Inventory Management Clerk. Establish priorities and delegates workload. Monitors vendors compliance with contract prices. Contact vendors to resolve order discrepancies. Be able to pick up 60 pounds. Other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for maintaining inventory in stock, placing orders as needed, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Receiving, checking and comparing inventory to the orders placed. Entering invoices into the SAP system. Entering inventory to the login report, doing cycle counts and comparing them to the inventory login report, investigating and resolving discrepancies when needed. Compiling and delivering inventory orders for the entire Shelter.
WORKING CONDITIONS This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Requires a high school diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE Two years of inventory control, materials management, or record keeping experience are required.
May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized or non-motorized materials handling equipment.
LICENSE Requires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
PREFERENCES **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. ** Preferences shall be given to candidates with the following experience: Bilingual (Spanish), experienced Forklift operator, and proven record of reliable work history. Basic computer skills. Basic match skills.
