GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Assistant Park Superintendent and the Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work. Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of park facilities, grounds, equipment operations and visitor services for McKinney Falls State Park. Performs preventative maintenance (cleaning/inspecting) of facilities, grounds and equipment. Serves as the Back-Up Utility Plant Operator (UPO) and assists in the operation, maintenance and repairs to the Water/Wastewater Distribution System. Responsible for regulatory compliance in all utility operations and completion of required reports and laboratory testing as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Operates all types of equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers and power tools. Provides information to park visitors and general public. Assists in enforcing park rules and regulations, performs resource management tasks and interprets the parks natural resources. Performs duties as the Park Safety Officer. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience :
Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.
Licensure :
Must possess OR be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid state driver's license.
Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class "D" Water and Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license and compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's (TCEQ) Criminal Conviction Guidelines.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS :
Experience :
Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use.
Required to work 40 hours per week, includes flexible schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Required to respond to emergency situations.
Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
Required to operate a state vehicle.
Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays.
Required to perform manual labor including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
