    This position will be located at Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri, 65101.

    Duration of Assignment: Part-Time Temporary; 1,000 Hour Position

    • Helping with operations and planning within the Missouri Hydrology Information Center
    • Assist with installations and analysis for soil moisture sensors and soil profile characterization.
    • Assist with installing and maintaining MoDNR streamgages across Missouri streams and waterways.
    • Collaborate with a fast-paced team to build out tools in Missouri to help with flood and drought resiliency.
    • Learn how to use data in GIS applications and tools for the public to use.
    • Some travel will be required, but flexibility is available with schedules.


    To be successful in this position, a candidate is preferred to have the following skills:

    • Hydrology : Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods related to the magnitude, distribution, and quality of water resources including watershed management, climatology, geomorphology, groundwater hydrology, water quality, water resource management, and groundwater/surface water interactions.


    AND/OR

    • Soil Science : Knowledge of the concepts, principles, or theories of soil composition, formation, classification, mapping, testing, and management, including erosion, pollution, conservation, and watershed management.
    • Problem Solving : Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; generates and evaluates alternative solutions; makes recommendations.
    • Physical Strength and Agility : Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time; ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work.


    Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

    Experience to be gained:

    • How to install and operate a soil moisture sensor network.
    • Learn how to characterize a soil profile alongside trained staff.
    • Learn how to install and maintain remote sensing streamgages.
    • Develop both technical field skills and project management/implementation skills.
    • What goes into developing a hydrology and drought information center.
