OverviewLarimer County is seeking a confident leader with industry experience and a strong foundation in solid waste operations and regulatory compliance to be the Solid Waste Diversion and Transfer Station Manager!
You will oversee the daily operations at the transfer station to ensure efficient waste management, safe operations, and regulatory compliance. You will also manage budgets, administrative functions, and customer service delivery while leading programs for construction and demolition (C&D) diversion, green waste processing, and recycling initiatives, and ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including DOT records for CDL drivers.

The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with flexibility to work additional hours as needed to oversee operations at the Transfer Station Facility.

- Exercising direct supervision over technical, professional, and administrative staff.
- Overseeing waste flow management, monitors, and enforces proper disposal and recycling procedures.
- Managing the construction and demolition (C&D) diversion programs.
- Overseeing green waste and organics processing, ensuring proper handling, grinding, and preparation of materials for the future compost facility.
- Monitoring and enforces compliance with recycling regulations and optimizes processes.
- Preparing and manages budget, including cost control and resource allocation.
- Managing DOT compliance requirements, including driver qualification files, hours-of-service logs, vehicle inspections, and regulatory audits.
- Coordinating with disposal facilities, makes adjustments in hauling operations to accommodate closure.

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Five (5) years of solid waste experience, including operation of state permitted solid waste transfer facility.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
- Two (2) years of experience with construction and demolition diversion, recycling operations, and green waste processing preferred.
