ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Houston Public Library (HPL) is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to join the Customer Experience Administration team. The selected candidate should be politically savvy, should perform accurate and detailed work, and should have the ability to work with executives, HPL partners and stakeholders, and all levels of staff. The selected candidate will work under the direction of the Assistant Direct of Customer Experience and must be able to work collaboratively with frontline Library staff to achieve goals.

Principal Responsibilities of the Administration Coordinator include: - Plan, initiate, and implement programs and services to meet the immediate and long-range needs of the library.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of Library policies. Responsible for writing and editing updates in coordination with Customer Experience Administration team and ELT.
- Act as liaison to Children’s Museum Houston, HPL Communications, HPL Spaces and other Library and City teams. Communicate updates between teams and frontline staff.
- Coordinate procurement and purchasing operations with Financial Services as necessary for special events and operations. Responsible for tracking budget and use of fund codes.
- Oversee passport operations.
- Assess process improvement and make recommendations for improvement or change as necessary or appropriate.
- Research, analyze, review, and collaborate on special projects.
- Assist library operations by furnishing analyses, appraisals, recommendations, and research.
- Will work on special projects to increase the Library’s reach in the community in innovative ways.
- Perform other duties as assigned including handling issues and information of a highly sensitive nature.
- May supervise, guide, train, or evaluate staff.

https://houstonlibrary.org/all-locations WORKING CONDITIONS:The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderately demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts of a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Five years administrative experience are required. Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERENCES- Experience working in government, non-profits, or libraries

- Knowledge and skill with statistics
- To better serve the communities, fluency in a foreign language, especially Spanish, is highly preferred.
