OverviewLarimer County Economic and Workforce Development (LCEWD) is seeking a skilled and analytical Accountant II to join our collaborative fiscal team!
This position is responsible for performing professional accounting work, including preparing and reviewing financial statements, reconciling complex accounts, monitoring grant expenditures, and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and County fiscal policies. The Accountant II supports multiple funding streams and programs, contributing to accurate financial reporting and sound fiscal management across the department.
The ideal candidate has experience with governmental or grant accounting, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and is proficient in financial analysis, spreadsheets, and accounting systems. They bring curiosity, dependability, and a commitment to accuracy and service in supporting staff, vendors, and community partners.

The typical schedule for this position is 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday (in office). During the probationary period, the selected candidate will be expected to work primarily on-site to support training, collaboration, and team integration. After successful completion of probation, there may be opportunities for remote work, in alignment with department needs and County policy.

- Reconcile and analyze financial data for multiple programs and funding sources.
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
- Develop and maintain grant, project, and program budget reports.
- Audit and process payments, contracts, and invoices for accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor grants and contracts; prepare reimbursement requests and track expenditures.
- Assist with annual budgets, year-end reporting, and audit preparation.
- Provide financial guidance to program managers and staff.
- Supervise and train fiscal staff to ensure consistency and accuracy.

What we're looking for:
- Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting principles.
- Familiarity with GASB standards and public sector accounting practices.
- Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prepare and interpret complex financial reports and statements.
- Skill in auditing and verifying financial transactions and records.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial and grant regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.

- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting required.
- Three (3) years relevant experience required.
