The County of Mariposa, with a population of 17,100 and a total area of 1,463 square miles is situated in the wonderfully rural and picturesque western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. With no incorporated cities (or stop lights), Mariposa County residents either live in rural areas or in one of the County’s small unincorporated communities. The County offers a rich variety of cultural and recreational resources including local theater, music, and the arts, as well as an abundance of outdoor activities such as camping, biking, hiking, and fishing.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned legal professional with deep expertise in criminal law, courtroom advocacy, and legal research who is adept at managing complex prosecutions, collaborating with law enforcement and victims, and making sound decisions under pressure.
Requires the equivalent of five years of increasingly responsible professional legal work in family and/or criminal law, two of which must have been in a supervisory/leadership capacity, and graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree. Possession of current membership in the State Bar of California and the ability to pass the California State Department of Justice fingerprinting clearance is required.
The annual salary for this at-will position is $129,343 - $157,234, depending on qualifications and experience. The County offers an outstanding benefits package that includes the 2% @ 55 formula for Classic CalPERS Members; $1,474 / month flexible benefits; longevity pay after 10 years; and a robust paid leave program.
